CHELSEA, MI – A recent acquisition of an appliance repair business has allowed Heydlauff’s Appliances in Chelsea to expand their service division.

Ann Arbor’s Master Tech Appliance Service officially joined Heydlauff’s operations in early May. The long-time home appliance retail company now offers its customers sales and support, appliance delivery and installation, as well as more comprehensive appliance repair services.

Jake Heydlauff, co-owner of Heydlauff’s, said the company had used Master Tech’s services for years before being approached with the opportunity.

“It was very exciting and we were fortunate to develop a relationship with Master Tech that allowed them to think of us at all,” he said.

Bill Henderson, owner of Master Tech, was looking to retire and decided to contact Heydlauff’s Appliances to find out the company’s next move.

“We have known Heydlauff’s for years and are fortunate to be able to secure a promising and rewarding agreement for our employees and Heydlauff’s as they continue to provide exceptional equipment repairs,” Henderson said in a statement.

The four technicians from Master Tech Appliance Service bring over 100 years of combined service experience by joining Heydlauff’s technician, Mark Bowdish. Another former Master Tech employee will oversee the service department and its day-to-day operations.

Products purchased from Heydlauff’s have priority, but these technicians are also available to repair other equipment that may have been purchased elsewhere.

Despite a recent change of ownership in 2022, Heydlauff said he believes the same decision would have been made no matter when who was in charge. He added that this expansion allows the company to offer services that the company has never been able to offer before.

Co-owners Ben Kellogg and Jason Aguirre shared Heydlauff’s enthusiasm and said the expansion allows the company to remain true to its customers and broader values.

“We look forward to the future and the opportunity to offer our services at a greater scale as we expand into various areas outside of Washtenaw County, whether that be providing services over the phone or the ability to offer them.” They are sure they made the right purchase with us,” said Aguirre.
