A woman was killed when a tornado downed a tree on a Florida RV, according to Escambia County Public Information.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. Thursday

“Upon arrival, ECFR and EMS confirmed a tree was on top of a residential building and a person was trapped under the tree inside the home,” Escambia County said in a release. “Despite rescue efforts, the patient was pronounced dead.”

The Escambia County Fire Department confirmed the cause of the incident was a tree colliding with the home due to a tornado in the area.

The identity of the woman was initially unknown.

Officials said a tornado also made landfall on Pensacola Beach overnight.

“Escambia County Building Services will evaluate outside power coverage for homes experiencing power outages in the DeLuna Point and La Bahia areas of Pensacola Beach,” the county said in a release. “Electrical services without damage will be approved by the utility for resumption.”

Flash flooding from the storm also hit the beach.

Most of the roads on the beach were completely flooded and impassable.

Nobody was injured.

Beach residents told WEAR that some of the homes were so damaged that residents had to evacuate.
