TULSA, Oklahoma — Friday marks the first day that Tulsa contractors are traveling to hard-hit neighborhoods to collect green waste from the Father’s Day storm. City and private contractors are working around the clock to clean up Tulsa.

Bill Chance and his associates at Midtown Tree Services said they were receiving nearly 300 calls 70 hours a day, six days a week when the damage occurred.

“It’s pretty hot too. We’re doing everything we can to help everyone get their lives back on track,” Chance said.

Like city contractors, they first prioritize the hardest-hit downtown neighborhoods.

Friday is the first day that Tulsa contractors with Greenbelt Turf, LLC are picking up damage from Admiral through 31st and from Riverside to Yale.

The difference: It’s free for residents as long as it’s cut into 1.5-meter pieces and stacked on the curb.

At 80, Linda Robertson had to get her hands dirty after her front tree fell in her garden.

“I have great-grandchildren who come over so I don’t want them stepping on them so I try to accommodate them,” she told 2 News.

Tetra Tech is overseeing the cleanup process by city contractors to ensure all impacted zones are cleared.

Chance recommends Tulsans call right away if they want to hire a private contractor for tree damage pickups, as there will likely be a wait list for the service.
