To date the Rai family have donated almost $300,000 to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation
Owners of a Maple Ridge roofing company have raised $30,000 for the local hospital foundation – after a fundraising challenge.
The Rai family, owners of H&I Roofing, donated $5,000 at the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation’s Emerald Garden Gala in October.
It was for the campaign called From the Heart which offers supporters the opportunity to help purchase specific equipment for essential care for patients at the hospital.
However, along with their donation, the family challenged other gala attendees to match the amount. If the donation was matched, they said, they would donate another $5,000.
“It was exciting to watch as $30,000 was raised because of this thoughtful gift,” read a post by the foundation online.
“Their gesture not only demonstrates remarkable generosity but also a deep commitment to supporting healthcare excellence within our community,” the post continued.
The Rai’s challenge actually allowed the foundation to reach the $34,500 they needed to purchase a Gastroscope that was featured in the From the Heart gala campaign, explained Deanna Lackey with the foundation.
And, she added, all the additionall funds that they received from the campaign, including many donations of less than $5,000, will go towards purchasing other pieces of essential equipment from the latest commitment list for the hospital.
The Rai’s, said Lackey, have been donating to the foundation since 2004 and will be coming up on two decades this year.
“We are honoured and consider ourselves so very fortunate to have the continuous support of an annual donation from the Rai family to share with our community,” said Lackey.
Last year the family donated $10,000 which went towards the funding of a portable ultrasound for the Chronic Pain Clinic at Ridge Meadows Wellness and Urgent Primary Care Centre.

In 2021 the family made another $10,000 donation.
To date the Rai family have donated almost $300,000 to the hospital foundation, helping to purchase “crucial medical equipment, and sustain the programs vial to the well-being of those we serve,” explained the foundation in the online post, thanking the Rai family for sharing their values and their support.
“Their contributions have been a beacon of hope and a driving force in our journey to provide the best in health care.”
