Pasadena, CA – Pasadena Tree Services today announced the launch of its new Youth Tree Care program aimed at empowering local youth through urban forestry. The unique program offers students in Pasadena the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tree care and maintenance and to learn about the importance of preserving and protecting the local environment.
The program is the brainchild of Bernett Rojas, CEO of Pasadena Tree Services, who saw it as an opportunity to give back to the community while helping to introduce young people to urban forestry. “For many years I have seen the passion young people have for the environment,” said Rojas. “We wanted to create a program that gives them access to the tools and skills they need to really make a difference.”
The program is open to all high school students in the Pasadena area ages 16-18. Participants receive a comprehensive introduction to tree care through workshops and seminars led by experienced professionals. You will also have access to hands-on training in pruning, fertilizing, planting and other tree care activities.
In addition to learning tree care, participants will also be equipped with knowledge about the importance of preserving and protecting urban forests. You will explore topics such as climate change and its impact on tree health, different tree species and their benefits, soil conservation and more.

After the program, participants receive certificates of completion and have the opportunity to be hired as part-time assistants by Pasadena Tree Services. “Our ultimate goal is to empower young people in our community to positively impact their communities and support them in their future careers,” said Rojas.
The youth tree care program begins in the second half of 2023 and will run through 2024. Applications are being accepted now and may be submitted through the Pasadena Tree Services website or by mail.
Rojas concluded, “I hope this program will inspire a new generation of arborists who understand the importance of preserving and protecting urban forests.”
