If: Mountville Borough Council meeting, 8 May.

What happened: The district council approved an additional $2,050 in funding to address tree issues at two district-owned properties: Veterans Memorial Park on Spruce Street and an unnamed cemetery on Cherry and Hoover Streets. The council had previously budgeted $3,500 for tree care.

Why it matters: Five trees were felled in a way that made them unsafe, officials said. The City Council approved additional funding for BTS Property Services, a tree removal company, to complete the work. Several other trees had to be trimmed in the park—the site of a baseball field. BTS also took care of this work.

What’s next: The grinding down of two tree stumps is to take place soon. The county public works office will fill in the holes and plant grass there.

Other business: The eCode program, which Council voted to purchase in March, will be codified and incorporated into the county ordinance. The measure will make it easier for residents to search.

rainwater management: Council agreed to draft a letter in support of updating Lancaster County’s Stormwater Management Plan.

Overdue garbage bills: The council has raised the issue of overdue bills for the public refuse service and will be sending out letters asking for payment.

Next meeting: The Council will meet again on June 12th.
