Isuzu Production Line Reaches Important Milestone

Isuzu Commercial Truck of AmericaThe Builtmore Contract Manufacturing facility in Charlotte, Michigan produced the 100,000th Isuzu N-Series gasoline-powered truck.

Since April 2011, all Isuzu N-Series gas trucks for the US and Canadian markets have been assembled in Charlotte by Builtmore. The production milestone comes less than five years after the plant built the 50,000th N-Series gas-powered truck.

Ewing is renamed

Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply will update its name to Ewing Outdoor Supply. This change will take effect on July 1st.

The company said this new name reflects the company’s growth and development. Ewing said its product categories and service offerings have grown to now include hardscape, artificial turf, outdoor living, sustainable outdoor solutions, micro-irrigation, battery-powered equipment, agronomy, mulch and more. Ewing expanded its business portfolio in 2018 to include dry bulk yards in select western US markets and operates under the Ewing Landscape Materials brand.

“As we entered our second century in business, we felt that an updated name and branding that spanned the breadth of our offering helped bring clarity to the marketplace and customers,” said Doug York, President and CEO of Ewing. “We believe Ewing Outdoor Supply will better appeal to the diversity of customers we serve.”

The National Association of Landscape Professionals works with másLabor

The National Association of Landscape Professionals has established a strategic vendor relationship with másLabor, a provider of comprehensive services for employers participating in the H-2B nonimmigrant visa programs.

Vermeer opens global parts distribution center

vermeer opened a 312,000 square foot parts distribution center in Pella, Iowa. The company said team members will pack and ship parts worldwide.

The site is at the end of the old runway where company founder Gary Vermeer once used to fly parts to Vermeer customers.

The new global parts distribution center offers three times more space than the previous building and features 23 dock doors, a warehouse management system and improved storage technology. Vermeer said this investment will help increase efficiency by centralizing parts storage.

Tree Care Industry Association hosts workshop for arborists

The Arborist Industry Associationn (TCIA) will host a workshop for arborists leaders in San Diego on August 7-9. This two and a half day event brings together renowned experts and provides arborists with the knowledge and tools to thrive safely and sustainably.

The workshop will cover a number of important topics including:

  • Creating a security plan that integrates seamlessly with day-to-day operations
  • Establishing and maintaining a safety culture that permeates all levels of the organization
  • Recognizing the signs and signals of mental health problems and providing appropriate support
  • Implementing effective risk management practices to reduce insurance costs
