If you look up the definition of ingenuity, you might find Ed Swallow’s story. Today he is Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer for Aerospace Corp., but the White Plains native of New York has never had a clearly defined path. This is largely why he is passionate about mentoring and career guidance for university students.

Tune in to learn how Swallow’s country club upbringing changed after his parents’ divorce and the 1972 recession. At the age of 15 he started helping his family financially by working in pizzerias and gas stations thanks to his stepfather’s company and even working as a roofer on the weekends. In order to be able to afford college, he declared himself emancipated, joined the ROTC and even started his own roofing company – at times replacing roofs for professors. With two bachelor’s degrees from two different universities, a master’s degree and active Air Force experience, Swallow is inspiring the next generation of diverse talent for the space workforce.
