The Fox Point Municipal Pool will not be open during the 2023 season and may be closed indefinitely due to plumbing issues at the facility.

The village announced the closure on June 13 in a statement. The pool was expected to open on June 17th.

Anyone who has purchased a membership or swimming lessons at the facility will get their money back. In addition, anyone who reserved the pool for an event will receive a refund.

Fox Point said the Department of Public Works was working to get the pool operational before the start of the calendar year but realized it would not be possible.

“Recently it became clear that due to the age of the plant, the staff and the contracted services were no longer able to find spare parts that are crucial to the management of the mechanical system of the plant, as the necessary parts are no longer manufactured “, the statement said.

The pool at 7100 N. Santa Monica Blvd. was originally built in 1968 and has seen a steady decline in membership in recent years.

There have been concerns about the condition of the pool in the past. The village commissioned an outside consultant, Ayres Associates, to conduct a study of future options for the pool in 2019.

Other pools in the area open for the 2023 season include the Schultz Aquatic Park and the Mequon CommunityPool.
