PERRYSVILLE – Mansfield Plumbing Products announced Monday the plant is closing at the end of the year.

Mansfield Plumbing Products precision manufactures sanitaryware, using highly automated production processes, at its Perrysville plant. The closure will affect 277 workers, the company said.

MPP will maintain the operation of its distribution center and logistics and customer service operations in Ashland, as well as bathtub production in its manufacturing facility in Henderson, Texas.

The Perrysville closure is expected to take effect at the end of the year, the company said in a statement.

Mansfield Plumbing is offering a transition package to the affected employees, including severance pay and health insurance, based on time spent at the company and seniority, the company said. It also is planning to offer outplacement assistance to help employees find new jobs.

Production was ‘unsustainable from a business standpoint’

“Despite best efforts and multiple investments, current economic conditions have created a cost-structure that made keeping the production facility unsustainable from a business standpoint. This difficult decision is in no way a reflection on the quality of work performed by our employees who have served customers and the company well over the years,” said Roman Rampinini, vice president of Commercial Operations-North America.

“We are thankful and appreciative for all the years of service and commitment from each of our employees. Mansfield will adhere to its culture and values, being respectful and supportive of all our people.”

The United States will remain a priority market for Mansfield Plumbing, the company said. It will continue supplying products to American customers and distributors from the North and South American manufacturing facilities operated by its parent company, Corona Industrial.

Both toilets and sinks are made in Perrysville.
