JD Plumbing will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 22 at 93 N. Main, Suite D.
JD Plumbing is a family owned business. The mission of JD Plumbing is to provide honest plumbing services at cost effective prices.
“The Porterville Chamber has always been enthusiastic about supporting new businesses in the area and believes that JD Plumbing will significantly contribute to the local economy and community life.,” the Porterville Chamber of Commerce stated.”
“For as long as I can remember, my father spent most of his life at work, breaking his back for plumbing companies that didn’t truly value him for his hard work, dedication or his knowledge,” Josiah Atkinson said. “After high school, I decided to follow in his footsteps and begin my journey of becoming a certified journeyman plumber through the Associated Builders and Contractors apprenticeship program in the state of California.
“After 4 years of schooling, and on-the-job training on new construction public works projects, I decided that it was time to step out of my comfort zone and start working on a dream that had been nothing but talk for the last 10 years.
“With everything that my father had done for me, and the rest of our family over the years, I only hoped that I could create something so amazing to show him how much I appreciate him and allow him to slow down on work enough to enjoy his own life. I went off on a limb and unofficially started JD Plumbing in April of 2022, still working full time for another plumbing company, and by the end of August of 2022, my father and I both decided to step away from the big corporations and began working on our dream with the little bit of money that we had between the two of us. “Since then, we have grown so much as a business and as a family, and despite all odds, have come a lot further than any of us thought was possible. We have one of the strongest and most resilient families around, and that is the whole heart of our business.
“We value hard work, integrity, family, and of course our customers along with their questions and opinions.”
Refreshments will be served at the grand opening and ribbon cutting.
