The Department of Transportation (CT DOT) plans tree work along both directions of I-84 in Newtown, weekday evenings and nights through the end of the month.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, work will begin on Monday 12 June and end on Friday 30 June. All work should be done between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

The project consists of tree removal from log mile 15.09 to 11.69. State Representative Mitch Bolinsky, who emailed the message, said: “In ‘non-DOT’ language, this area is between exits 9 and 10 eastbound and westbound.

“My office has been informed by the DOT that this section of the freeway has been the scene of several recent tree damage events, including a trailer truck crash,” Bolinsky continued. “This project will restore ‘free zones’ and remove dangerous trees.”

The state official was also told that the area in question had sufficient setbacks and should not have an impact on dormitory owners.

Motorists must expect delays and lane closures. Traffic control personnel and signage patterns are employed to guide motorists through the work area.

The schedule may vary due to weather related working conditions.
