Trev goes to “Town” on appliances

Ever had a home appliances nightmare? The kind where you find that your devices are out of warranty and cost so much to fix that you’re better off buying a new device? It’s bad enough when this happens to one device, it happened to me twice in the last week; once with a washing machine and once with a refrigerator.

Here’s what happened: My washing machine kept shutting itself off in the middle of the computer controlled program and when I tried to reset it it got progressively worse. My fridge would freeze over until the freezer became unusable and my products would sink into the water. Each was less than 3 years old.

I never got the extended warranties because I’ve been very lucky in the past and have heard warranties are a rip off. I could see if you feel that way when you’re not using them, but now…

So I called in my appliance repairman who is very reliable but you are paying for his time and I paid for it.

After checking them out, it cost me $385 before I found out I had to replace both devices. That’s $385 wasted money! So now I’m frantic and searching places looking for deals. I ended up going to Town Appliance in Lakewood.

Shlomo Schreiber, their rep, made time for family gatherings all weekend and late at night when I left New Jersey 101.5 after my shift to help me find not the cheap gear that suited my needs, but the right without ever setting foot at their Lakewood location.

Delivery was smooth and notifications were plentiful and I ended up engaging on both fronts and both are warranted.
