Engineering expert launches domestic appliance repair business to meet growing demand in and around Wellingborough


A professional engineer has set up his own business to repair household goods including washing machines and dishwashers to meet growing demand across North Northamptonshire.

Joe Lack founded JL Appliances, a home appliance repair business covering the Wellingborough area.

He will also work with Pacifica Local, the UK’s largest home appliance repair company, to reach more customers in his region by leveraging Pacifica’s customer network and operating on Pacifica’s industry-leading technology platform.

After completing his high school diploma in Engineering and Product Design, Joe initially wanted to be a mechanic after deciding against going to college.

Instead, he pursued a career where he could develop his skills and knowledge based on his passion for fixing things.

The crisis in the cost of living and people’s increasing environmental awareness, as well as manufacturers’ obligation to provide spare parts for certain devices in order to extend the life of their products, have fueled the demand for domestic repair experts.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys doing mixed martial arts and modifying cars.

He said: “I’ve always wanted to have my own business and the ability to repair items is a future-proof skill.

“Everything is going well and I’m enjoying every minute of it – my average completion rate is around 70 percent and customer satisfaction is second to none.

“I look forward to working with Pacifica to reach more people who are choosing to save money by repairing devices rather than replacing them, especially during this cost of living crisis.”
