A brief statement from the Conservation Officer Service said the attack took place near Tumbler Ridge on Thursday.

The service said the victim was flown to a hospital in Prince George but more information on the severity of his injuries was not immediately available.

Four conservation officers were tasked with investigating the attack. They will try to track the bear and find out if it was a black bear or a grizzly bear.

They will also work to find out why the animal might have attacked the worker.
