Police are investigating an accident at Semaphore Park this morning.
At 3.45am on Friday 14 July, emergency services were called to Bartley Terrace after reports that an Audi sedan which had been traveling south lost control and collided with a tree, sending the tree across the road fell and the engine compartment caught fire.
MFS went to work clearing the tree while the patrol officers spoke to the driver. The driver, a 21-year-old man from West Lakes Shore, managed to escape with an allegedly positive breath test of .149. However, he was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, where blood alcohol levels will be taken.
His car was towed from the scene of the accident and pending blood work, he may face drunk driving charges and stand trial at a later date.
