Lexington’s Division of Environmental Services is issuing a challenge to residents: go see trees. The Go See Trees Fall Challenge is a tree-centric scavenger hunt designed to highlight the importance of planting the right tree in the right place.
This year’s challenge takes you on a tour of past Reforest the Bluegrass sites, so not only do you get to find trees, but you get to find pockets of nature all over Lexington.
“Go See Trees is a great opportunity for everyone to explore Lexington through the lens of our urban forest,” says Heather Wilson, Program Manager Senior in Lexington’s Division of Environmental Services. “This scavenger hunt is great for all ages, and it really encourages us all to learn about our city, connect with our urban trees, and have fun!”
Participants will be given a list of 12 trees located around Fayette County. Those who visit at least eight and turn in the necessary documentation will receive a gift and be entered to win a grand prize. Those who visit all 12 will receive three entries into the grand prize drawing.
Completed scavenger hunt booklets may be emailed to LiveGreen@lexingtonky.gov or dropped off at participating partner locations around Lexington.
The Go See Trees challenge runs through November 5.
Go See Trees was initially developed as a project of the Community Environmental Academy.
