Funeral services announced for Marked Tree fire chief

MARKED TREE, Ark. (KAIT) – A Poinsett County town is mourning the loss of its fire chief.

The Marked Tree Fire Department announced in a social media post on Saturday, Oct. 15, that Chief Jamie McCrary had died.

“Chief McCrary lived a life of service not only to the MTFD but to the Marked Tree Community as a whole. His selfless service contributed to the success of the Marked Tree Fire Department and his legacy will live on throughout the ages. The Marked Tree Fire Department owes an unending debt of gratitude to Chief McCrary and his service.”

According to his obituary, McCrary died at his home “after fiercely fighting multiple forms of cancer for several years.”

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lisa McCrary, their two daughters, Amber Simmons and April Ragan, and one son, Chad McCrary.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at First Baptist Church, 412 Liberty St. in Marked Tree. Funeral services will be held at the church at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, followed by burial at Marked Tree Cemetery, Highway 75 South. Delancey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
