Frank M. Holcomb
March 30, 1939 – June 10, 2023
LONE TREE- Frank M. Holcomb, 84, of Lone Tree, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in rural Nichols with full military honors. A memorial fund was set up at the funeral home to commemorate Frank. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. Lone Tree’s Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services are taking care of Frank’s family and arranging everything.
Frank Marcus Holcomb was born on March 30, 1939 in Muscatine, Iowa to Thomas Benton and Frances “Betty” Elizabeth (Baker) Holcomb. He graduated from Nichols High School in 1957 and then attended Muscatine Community College. Frank proudly served his county in the Army Reserve and the United States Army. On April 22, 1961, Frank married Yvonne DeWulf in Lone Tree. Frank owned and operated the Holcomb Deep Rock gas station and then worked at the Twinkle Company for Willard Salemink. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nichols, served on the Nichols City Council, volunteered with the Nichols Fire Department and with Habitat for Humanity. Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting hit-and-miss gasoline engines, old cars, and motorcycles. He loved collecting broken things and making them work again. He was known for helping anyone in need.
Frank will be greatly missed by his wife Yvonne Holcomb of Lone Tree; his children Frank Eugene Holcomb of Lone Tree and Nancy Holcomb of Nichols; three grandchildren, Brooklyn Holcomb, Leanna Kasper, and Levi Sotzen; and three great-grandchildren, Ivy, Cameron, and Kie.
Before Frank died his parents, a son, John Holcomb, a brother, Thomas Joe (Ramona) Holcomb, and a sister, Delpha (Kenny) Wagner.
