To help city residents clean up fallen tree branches on private property, the City of Round Rock has opened an additional temporary brush recycling facility and is offering residents the opportunity to request free brush pickup in the coming weeks.

“Our community has dealt with several events over the past several years that have required extensive cleanup, and the key to success with each and every event has been patience,” said Round Rock Mayor Craig Morgan. “The City of Round Rock is working diligently to provide the resources needed to clean up the tremendous amount of debris caused by this storm.”

The property owner is responsible for fallen trees on private property.

The services listed below are free and only available to city residents. If you’re not sure if you live within the city limits, you can use the tool below.

Dispensing points for brushes

Residents can drop off their brushes Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. free of charge at the following locations:

Anyone using this service must provide proof of residency by presenting a recent water bill from the City of Round Rock and a valid driver’s license. It is absolutely not allowed to terminate the contract.

Regular garbage collection for smaller, bundled limbs

For smaller branches, as part of the city’s contract with Central Texas Refuse, residents can place up to 7 additional items next to their curbside dumpster for free on their garbage pickup day. The brush must be bundled and each bundle must weigh less than 40 pounds and no larger than 4ft x 4ft x 4ft. Please note that due to the ice storm, Central Texas garbage disposal is on a delayed schedule and garbage cans are currently primarily focused on garbage collection. This service is free to existing City of Round Rock garbage customers (you must obtain a water bill from the City of Round Rock) and requires no additional registration.

PLEASE NOTE: The “Plus 7” pickup outside containers is currently behind schedule; If you had additional items outside of your containers that were not picked up on your garbage collection day, please keep those items curbside as Central Texas Refuse is catching up on large item pickups.

Request curbside pickup for larger limbs (less than 10 feet in length)

For larger limbs, residents can arrange a free curbside pickup through the city’s online service request form or by calling 512-218-5540. The fee for this service is expected to be waived until at least the end of February. Residents can use the form below to request this service.

The scrub must be piled up on the curb with branches no longer than 3m and not bundled. Do not place the scrub in public areas – it is acceptable for the branches to block the sidewalks at this point. Bush piles must be 5 feet apart on all sides and must not contain obstacles 15 feet high (power lines and trees). Do not place bush piles within 5 feet of mailboxes, poles, trees, parked cars, or the garbage pile. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in the resident being responsible for removal.

Please note: Due to the expected volume of requests, curbside service may take up to several weeks from the time the request is received. However, the form should not be completed until your limbs are ready for collection.

Important notice about tree branches on roads

City of Round Rock Transportation employees continue to work to ensure the roads are passable. However, they only remove branches that block the roadway and pose a hazard to motorists. These limbs are placed outside the roadway for public safety reasons; Residents are asked not to put them back on the road.
