Lafayette Republic Services customers are eligible for a Christmas tree disposal program that will run through March.
Republic Services will offer free tree pick-ups during regular weekly compost services for residents. The service will be available from January through March, with more information to be distributed to customers.
To follow Republic Services tree pick-up guidelines, trees should be unflocked, cut into 4-foot segments, and bundled together with twine or rope. The trees should have no decorations left, including ornaments or tinsel. Trees can then be placed next to compost carts to be picked up during the regular schedule.
Flocked trees will require an additional material sticker from the city, as it can not be composted.
