SAN FRANCISCO, California., April 26, 2023 /PRNewswire/ – BMO continues its commitment to a sustainable future today with a $225,000 Donate to One Tree Planted to advance progress on city planting projects to increase tree canopy in underserved communities California. Ensuring that there are trees in these communities can help address several inequalities, including heat exposure and air quality. BMO’s support enables foresters to improve vegetation planning and resource management, reduce heat pressure and improve air quality.

One Tree Planted is a national organization focused on global reforestation to create habitats for biodiversity and create positive social impact around the world. Their city planting projects bring environmental benefits, including habitat restoration, erosion control, air pollution reduction, and carbon sequestration. Tree planting also helps conserve stormwater, improves soil health by reducing stormwater runoff, and improves community health by providing shade in neighborhoods previously overlooked by tree placement.

Alongside the donation, BMO employees and One Tree Planted partners will host two volunteer planting events, one in Inglewood In Los Angeles District At April 27th and the other pure san francisco At 29th of July.

Inglewood project:

Combined with City of Inglewood, BMO’s donation will expand an ongoing initiative to plant 700 new trees across the community, including 100 street trees and 600 residential fruit trees. 3,000 people in 5 neighborhoods will enjoy the benefits of the planted trees.

As the main sponsor for the Bay area of ​​San Francisco Project, BMO One Tree Planted’s donation will help plant fruit and community trees throughout the Little Hollywood neighborhood. With a focus on replacing dead trees and stumps with new trees, 330 trees will be planted in 2023, with a further 170 trees planned for 2024. Almost 30,000 people in 13 underserved neighborhoods will benefit from the project.

Earlier this year, BMO supported One Tree Planted’s reforestation project by planting 9,400 trees, with one tree planted for each Bank of the West employee who joined BMO February 1st. Also off February 7th to March 31stBMO donated $1 for each qualifying transaction made by BMO Digital Banking users.

This announcement also follows BMO’s third annual Trees from Trades program April 19th This resulted in 125,000 new trees for three years totaling 375,000 which can fill BMO Stadium over 271 times.
