WHITE BIRD – Dot McCulley asked me to send a big thank you to Bryan Lowe and his helper for taking the time to walk around town and water the lawns, flowers and trees to keep them alive. The city still has water use restrictions in place, so about every other day in the evening Bryan would fill a tank from the creek and spray where the water was needed.
There was a note in last week’s column about Brooke Myers who was looking for donations to raise more than $3,000 to buy a special computer program for her online special needs students. Thank you to everyone who helped her achieve her goal. It will make a real difference in your students’ learning.
Anyone looking for an old galvanized vintage roof? The Rebekahs are getting ready for their IOOF exterior beautification project and want to sell the old roof. If you are interested and would like information, contact Beth Plagmann at 208-983-4241.
Beth Plagmann’s daughter Sara is associated with a church in Arizona that is on a missionary trip to Kenya, Africa. Sara has found that the cheapest way to bring provisions is to check them in as extra baggage. However, if you have old panniers that you would like to donate, give them to Beth or drop them off at the Baptist Church. Sara’s father, Steve Dalgliesh, will be taking it to Arizona in the near future. Sara is an adult White Bird lady and would appreciate any help.
This message seems a bit out of date, but I was unable to reach you due to the holiday last week. Walt Lindsey reported that the 7th Annual Cajun Boil on July 1st went well. About 200 people were present. Marcos Dominguez and the Midnight Highway provided live entertainment. A 1999 Mustang Convertible was raffled and the lucky winner was Rosa Richards. Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors who every year help make this event such a huge success. All proceeds benefit White Bird Veterans Park improvement.
