Storm Works Roofing High School Girls Athlete of the Week

Braintree High’s Kathryn Freeman has been voted the Storm Works Roofing High School Girls Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore field hockey player received over 18,000 votes (46.2%) to earn the honor. She notched a hat trick in a win over Weymouth to collect the nomination.

And this week’s candidates are…

SOCCER

Emme Finnigan + Tressa Murphy, Sr., Fontbonne: The captains led the way in a 3-1 win over Boston Trinity Academy. Finnigan, a sweeper, led the defensive effort and Murphy, a midfielder, scored an early goal to set the tone in victory.

Fallon Ryan, Jr., Hull: Hull had three multi-point days last week. She tallied a goal and two assists against Cohasset, two goals and an assist against Carver and two goals and an assist against Rockland.

Sadie Nugent, Jr., Pembroke: Nugent scored a hat trick in a 6-1 win over Quincy.

Claire Murray, Sr., Hingham: Murray scored four times in Hingham’s 4-1 win over Duxbury.

Rachael Geniuch + Kylie Fuller, West Bridgewater: Both girls joined the 100-goal club last week. They’re just the second and third players in program history to reach the feat.

Ally Johnson, Soph., Blue Hills: In a 3-0 win over Old Colony, Johnson recorded her 11th shutout of the season, breaking a program record.

Tess Barrett, Jr., Cohasset: The Maryland comitt scored five goals in a 6-2 win over Abington.

Sophia Foley, Sr., Hanover: Foley scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Quincy.

Georgie Clarke, Sr., Hopkinton: The Boston College-bound Clarke notched a hat trick, netting her 49th, 50th and 51st career goals, as the undefeated Hillers handled Holliston, 5-2.

Angelina DaSilva, Fr., AMSA: DaSilva scored three goals and dished out two assists in a 6-0 win over Groton-Dunstable. DaSilva also had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Oakmont earlier in the week.

Rachel Welch, Sr., + Kelly O’Connor, Jr., Franklin: A four-year varsity player, the goalkeeper Welch continued a strong run last week for the Panthers (16-2), posting a pair of shutouts. On the year, Welch has allowed just six goals for a 0.48 goals against average, giving her a total GAA of 0.51 over 46.5 games in her career. O’Connor, meanwhile, scored three goals in a 4-0 win over Attleboro early in the week.

VOLLEYBALL

Chloe Zhong, Jr., Braintree: In a loss against Durfee, Zhong became the program’s all-time leading in assists. She heads into her senior year with 795 assists for her career and is on pace for well over 1,000.

Ava Bryan, Sr., North Quincy: The captain tallied 23 digs and 11 kills on Senior Night in a 3-1 win over Plymouth North.

Mia Bradshaw, Sr., South Shore Tech: Bradshaw tallied 15 aces in a 3-0 win over Blue Hills.

Liv Flaherty, Sr., Notre Dame Academy: Flaherty tallied 16 kills in a 3-0 win over Falmouth.

Rachel Fleischman + Sarah Hilliard, Oliver Ames: Both girls tallied career milestones last week. Fleischman recorded her 500th career dig while Hillard tallied her 1,000th career kill.

Jess Wright, Sr., Canton: Wright put the exclamation point on an undefeated season with a 14-kill day in a 3-0 sweep against Quincy.

Grace Chiota , Jr., + Sophie Hjerpe, Sr., Algonquin: Chiota had 14 kills and Hjerpe notched 10 kills as the Titans (16-4) lost a tough 3-2 decision to Shrewsbury in the CMADA Class A final at Whitinsville Christian. In a 3-0 win over Nipmuc to reach the final, Chiota (11 kills, 12 digs) and Hjerpe (7 kills) shined.

Kelsey Evans + Phoebe Carroll + Liv Barroso + Mia Cote, Hopedale: The senior captain Evans (18 kills), sophomore Carroll (13 kills, 4 blocks, ace), sophomore Barroso (43 assists, ace) and junior Cote (3 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks) shined as the second-seeded Blue Raiders (12-9) defeated top-seeded Whitnsville Christian Crusaders (15-6) for the CMADA Class C championship at Westborough High, 3-1. Set scores were 25-16, 25-5, 21-25 and 25-21.

Val Nolan + Mia Milani + Ari Elster, Bellingham: The sophomore Nolan had nine kills, four aces and eight digs, freshman Milani had 10 kills, an ace and three digs and senior Elster had 19 assists and two aces as the Blackhawks swept Dedham, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-23).

FIELD HOCKEY

Liz Curtis, Jr., Hanover: Curtis tallied a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Plymouth South.

Haylen Wilson, Soph., Hingham: Wilson scored two goals in a 5-0 win over Marshfield. She notched her 50th career goal with a two-goal, two-assist game in a 4-0 win over Hanover. That was also coach Susan Petrie’s 200th career win.

Lindsey Brown, Jr., Algonquin: The junior scored the tying goal to send the Titans’ game against to overtime, and the winning goal to beat North Middlesex.

Camille Perlov, Sr., Hopkinton: Perlov scored five goals and dished out an assist as the Hillers dropped Holliston, 6-1.

Hayden Tobin, eighth grade, Hopedale: The eighth-grader scored three goals to help the Blue Raiders reach the CMADA Class C Tournament final, where Hopedale fell to Dual Valley Conference rival Sutton. Tobin also scored the double-overtime winner in a 2-1 triumph over Notre Dame Academy (Worcester).

Haley Wernig + Raena Crandall + Emily Carney, Jrs., Franklin: Wernig scored a goal with three assists, earning her 100th career point in the process, as the Panthers finished the regular season 17-0-1 with a 9-1 win over North Attleborough. Crandall scored four goals and Carney had two goals in the win. In a 14-0 win over Milford earlier in the week, Crandall had three goals and two assists, Wernig had three goals and four assists and Carney had three goals and two assists.

SWIMMING

Grace Pistorino, Sr., Notre Dame Academy: Pistorino won the 200 and 500 yard freestyle in a Senior Night win over Ursuline.

CROSS COUNTRY

Emmeline Holdsworth, Seventh grade, East Bridgewater: On Senior Day, Holdsworth took first place to power the Vikings to a 27-30 win over Abington.

Selena Wood, Sr., Abington: Wood took first at the South Shore League Championship Meet.
