WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Here’s a look at some of the top stories for April 30, 2024:

Hit and run – Wichita police are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit and run. Police say a woman was hit last night near 21st and Amidon. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Person hit by train – About an hour after the hit and run, a person was hit by a train near East Kincaid and South Mead, near Mount Vernon and Broadway. Few details are available, but authorities say the person who was struck went to the hospital with serious injuries.

Roofing scams – The Better Business Bureau said scammers may try to profit from weekend storm damage. The BBB said to be on the lookout for fraudulent roofing contractors who may show up offering to make repairs. Be sure to check website reviews and get estimates from different contractors. The Kansas Attorney General’s office reminds you that all roofing contractors must be registered with the AG’s office on top of any other local requirements imposed in your city or county.
