Million-pound Herefordshire school roofing works to run into next term

Up to £522,000 has been provided for ceiling and roofing work at St Mary’s Primary School, Credenhill near Hereford, including up to £58,000 for internal and external honoraria.

And up to £473,000 is set to be spent on roofing work at Weobley High School, including up to £57,000 in honoraria.

A spokesman for Herefordshire Council said: “In order to minimize disruption to learning, the roofing work will start at the end of the summer semester and is expected to last 12 to 16 weeks.

“Currently there are no plans to relocate students.”

Central Roofing and Building Services has been awarded both following successful tenders to the council.

The council said that by not completing the roofing work, the schools face the risk of further costs.
