A 21-year-old man is accused of posing as a roofer, damaging a homeowner’s roof in Riverdale and then offering to do the repair.

“The man was said to be a roofer and offered to inspect the roof of the house,” police said in a statement released Saturday.
“The homeowners heard loud knocking on their roof,” police said. “The man came down from the roof and told the homeowner that he had a hole in the roof.”
“The man said he could fix it for a fee and left the area,” police added.
Police said the homeowners checked their roof and found it was damaged.

Investigators released a picture of a suspect on April 8 in hopes the public could help identify him.
A suspect was arrested on Friday.
Jamie O’Brien, 21, of Toronto, is charged with mischief/property damage of up to $5,000.
