BROOKS, Ky. (WDRB) — The owner of local roofing business said a piece of valuable equipment was stolen just ahead of the new year.

Dana Brown, owner and president of Cervices Roofing located off Coral Ridge Road said it happened around 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 30. She shared surveillance video from the business with WDRB News.

The video appears to show at least two people, one driving a truck and another person getting out, before driving away with the trailer.

“They actually moved the trailer with the front of their truck,” said Brown.

She said an employee came to work and noticed the trailer was gone. That’s when they started checking the cameras.

Brown said the trailer is used to haul roofing debris and is important to help the family business operate. She estimates its value to be at least $10,000.

“We can’t replace roofing if we don’t have a dump trailer to haul the debris away in,” Brown said. “We’ve got other sources that we can work through and keep business rolling, but it definitely knocks us off our normal routine and our way that we do business.”

Brown said she has filed a police report with the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office. She’s offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to finding the trailer.

“People rely on us and we rely on that equipment and having someone take it right from our under noses is a real gut punch,” she said.

In Shelby County, the sheriff’s office there said a trailer was stolen from a business on Gordon Lane Friday morning around 6 a.m. and “… it appears to be the same vehicle used in the Bullitt County theft.”

Brown said someone knows something, and she’s hopeful they’ll come forward with information.

“Somebody has literally come into our property and taken things from us that we use to help other people with. That’s not how the world’s supposed to work,” she said.
