Established in 2018, HPP has quickly become the go-to destination for tradespeople in Scotland, supplying a comprehensive range of plumbing, heating, and bathroom products to both trade professionals and the public. With branches in Loanhead, Falkirk, Rosyth, and Macmerry, HPP is now on track to achieve a remarkable £7 million turnover this year, thanks to the invaluable support received from Business Gateway.
The creation of Craig Campbell, Commercial Director, and Alan McConville, Operations Director, HPP was founded on the duo’s extensive industry expertise gained from working in senior roles in large manufacturing merchants for over three decades. Identifying a gap in the market, they aimed to bridge the relationship between merchant suppliers and everyday tradespeople, who they believed were overlooked in the industry.
Recognising the potential of their business idea, Craig and Alan turned to Business Gateway for guidance and support in 2018. Business Gateway played a crucial role in the early stages, offering startup advice workshops that covered various aspects, including HR support to help create staff contracts. The duo also collaborated with strategy experts to devise a comprehensive five-year plan, a blueprint they continue to follow successfully.
Moreover, Business Gateway provided digital support, enabling HPP to develop a user-friendly website featuring an online brochure and direct access to the brand’s social channels. The partnership with Business Gateway reached new heights when Alan and Craig secured a 2023 Falkirk Council Resilience grant fund award for expansion, amounting to £10,000. This grant facilitated the construction of a new showroom at HPP’s Falkirk branch, meeting the demand from customers to showcase their bathroom products.
Since 2018, HPP has experienced rapid growth, expanding its presence from Loanhead to Falkirk, Rosyth, and Macmerry. The company now boasts a team of 28 colleagues, with a collective experience of over 300 years in the industry.
