Due to “irreparable mechanical plumbing problems,” according to the Village of Fox Point website, the popular Fox Point Municipal Pool will not be open this year and may remain closed indefinitely.
The village’s website made the announcement in a post on Tuesday, writing: “DPW staff have been working diligently to get the pool up and running since before January, but unfortunately that is no longer possible.”
“Recently it became clear that due to the age of the plant, the personnel and contracted service providers were no longer able to find spare parts that are crucial to the management of the plant’s mechanics, since the necessary parts are no longer manufactured .”
Those who purchased memberships and applied for swim lessons at the pool at 7040-7098 N. Santa Monica Blvd. have paid. their money will be refunded, the website says, as will the people who made a reservation.

“Thank you for your understanding on this matter,” the statement said. “This message is not a message that Village Staff intends to convey, but the pool is not operational in its current state.”
