Every week on Golden Tuesdays, the local company is giving someone over 70 a free boiler service, all residents have to do is apply.
Paul Bishop, a director at Bishop Plumbing & Heating, told MKFM he was “proud” to secure the business ltakes care of the older generation with a fair, transparent and reliable service.
“I would want to look after them the same way my grandparents did if they needed a handyman,” he said.
Paul told MKFM the idea for Golden Tuesdays came to him after visiting a property to request a new boiler.
“When I arrived, the gentleman at the door who greeted me was an elder. Upon first looking at the cauldron I asked the gentleman why he might need a new cauldron as the one on the wall was only a few years old. His boiler had stopped working so he called an engineer who shut it down and told him he needed a new one and then left it with no heat or hot water and a cost of £3,000,” explained the director.
He later discovered that the part he needed cost less than £100.
Due to protection and vulnerability, the company says it won’t solicit or solicit customers, instead relying on referrals.
