Fake request for plumbing help leads to carjacking in Stoughton, arrest in Boston – NBC Boston

According to police, a man was mugged in Stoughton, Massachusetts on Monday and a suspect was later arrested in Boston.

According to Stoughton authorities, the incident began just before 6 p.m. on Pierce Street. The victim, a man in his 40s, responded to an online advertisement for plumbing services.

After telling the person he was at the address, police said a man arrived, pointed a gun and threatened him, took his cell phone and wallet, and then sped away in the victim’s Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Boston police said the vehicle was recovered just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Horadan Way and Cornelia Court in the Mission Hill neighborhood. They added that an arrest had been made and a weapon found.

Neither police agency in either community gave the name of the arrested person.
