There are fewer things that go more viral on the internet than well-documented instances of someone just going wrong. Our species loves some glee, for whatever reason, so we love it when people drop ice buckets on their heads, get kicked in the groin, and fall flat on their faces for cheating in a grape stamp contest have.

If you’re not familiar with Orbeez, then either you haven’t had a kid excitedly tout the virtues of these little balls for an uninterrupted hour, or you have a deep-seated dislike of deeply stupid and cheaply made fashion toys (I’m looking at you, Pogs) and avoid them them at any cost.
The Frenchman first demonstrated how they work.
Basically, these are small beads of polymer that can absorb water and have been known to grow up to 100 times their original size.
Any parent with a child obsessed with Orbeez will tell you how annoying it is to get rid of these things. Something this Frenchman probably wasn’t aware of when he decided to play with them in the first place.

Then he had a terrible idea.
Watch him demonstrate how they work. Then he comes up with a not-so-great idea: why not fill his bathtub with the Orbeez, that could be cool, right?

He filled his tub with Orbeez.
Admittedly, there’s something relaxing about crushing the Orbeez between your fingers. So why not feel that feeling all over your body? Well, because cleaning up Orbeez is annoying as hell, which this man found out the hard way.

And then he made the mistake of just letting her go down the drain.
After the little balls reached their full size and he got bored of having a tub filled to the brim with squishy polymers, he tried to get rid of them.

His plumbing was quickly overflowing with Orbeez.
Problem is, he tried the easy way, by simply pulling out the drain in his tub and letting them all flow down the sewer. But this is where it gets crazy: it turns out that the drains in his house are all connected and Orbeez is squirting out of all the plumbing fixtures. His toilet, his sinks, everything in his house connected to that pipeline was now infested with Orbeez.

But not only his sanitary facilities were affected. It was his entire home.
To make matters worse, the young man found that the outside sewer lines were also backed with Orbeez, affecting his neighbors’ plumbing as well.

Neighbors soon began to complain.
Before long, the bathtubs, sinks, and toilets of every resident on his block were infested with his Orbeez, and officers went in search of who was behind this Orbeez-themed act of sewage terrorism.

And the man received a letter from the authorities.
A letter from City Hall indicated that the search for the culprit was at large, and he ended things by saying that a few people were on to him and his antics. I guess it was a pretty bad idea on his part to put the videos online and not remove them immediately, leading many to believe that this was all some kind of elaborate internet points prank.

For this man’s sake, he hopes it was all a prank.
Which could very well be. Our Orbeez-obsessed friend could combine the internet’s collective disdain for annoying new toys and our time-honored delight in the suffering of others and create a hilarious comedy of mistakes that only gets worse.

Because if it weren’t so…
If it’s fake, you have to give him props for staging the destruction of a vacuum, filling his house with orbeez, and digging holes outside to make it look like the orbeez are coming out of the sewers. Oh and the job he did to make this citizen letter look so official was pretty good, the footer at the bottom was a nice touch. I still don’t know how he made the fecal water spurt out of the bottom of his sink though.

He’s going to get in serious trouble.
