Finnish plumbing firm Uponor supports Georg Fischer’s rival bid

OSLO, June 12 (Reuters)Swiss industrial group Georg Fischer GF.S announced on Monday that it had made a competitive cash offer for Finnish plumbing and heating systems manufacturer Uponor UPONOR.HEand offers a premium of 12% over an offer from Belgium’s Aliaxis BE0941243520.BR.

Uponor’s board that had rejected The Aliaxis bidder said in a statement that it recommended shareholders to accept the Swiss company’s bid.

Georg Fischer’s offer of €28.85 per share valued Uponor at €2.1 billion ($2.26 billion), a 12% premium over Aliaxis’ €25.75 offer.

Uponor said last month it had received the Belgian group’s unsolicited offer caught the attention other potential bidders, but did not name any applicants at this time.
