An online ad for help with plumbing led to a carjacking Monday in Stoughton, Massachusetts, that ended with a crash involving a Boston Police Department cruiser in Roxbury, officials said. Stoughton Police received a call at 5:53 p.m. of a carjacking near the intersection of Pierce and Leach streets, near Halloran Park.The victim, a man in his 40s, responded to an online ad from someone who was seeking plumbing assistance. When the person offering help arrived arrived at the address given in Stoughton, no one was present. The man called the person who had requested plumbing services, who said they would be at the address shortly.Moments later, a man later identified as 34-year-old Junior Joseph, of Boston, approached the victim’s white Jeep Grand Cherokee. The man displayed a gun, threatened the victim and took the victim’s cellphone and wallet, police said. Joseph drove away at a high rate of speed, according to police. The victim was not injured.Police were able to use tracking technology to locate the vehicle in Boston. Stoughton officers guided Boston police to the last-known location of the vehicle. Boston police said they found the stolen Jeep at intersection of Horadan Way and Cornelia Court in Roxbury.According to authorities, Joseph accelerated and struck a Boston Police Department cruiser.Joseph was taken into custody when the vehicle was stopped. Officials said a firearm was recovered from inside the vehicle. He was arraigned Monday afternoon in the Roxbury Division of Boston Municipal Court with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with cancelled registration, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. Judge David Weingartern ordered Joseph to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for Aug. 3.Boston Police said additional charges will be sought by the Stoughton Police Department.
