ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Central New Mexico Community College had to cancel classes and shut down a building because of flooding and water damage at their main campus Wednesday.

Those clean-up efforts are still underway Thursday. CNM reps say it could be a while before Ted Chavez Hall is open again.

Crews were brushing the water out of classrooms after the rainfall, and now dozens of fans are set up for the drying process.

A CNM spokesperson said the Electrical Trades lab and the HVAC lab were hit the hardest by water damage. He said about a hundred students are impacted by the building closure, and classes were also canceled in Ted Chavez Hall Thursday.

The community college is working with a restoration company to assess how much water damage there is.

Classes in Ted Chavez Hall East are expected to have class as usual Friday, but classes in Ted Chavez West remain canceled.

Due to flooding and water damage all classes in TC-E and TC-W on Main Campus are cancelled for the remainder of today and all day tomorrow, Thursday, 9/14.

An update on the status of classes in the TC buildings on Friday, 9/15 will be provided by text & email tomorrow afternoon.
