Andrea Kocher knows that the people of Piatt County need help.

And she wants to help them.

Monticello-based Kocher has been named the new Director of Services for Willow Tree Missions.

“It’s an exciting time at Willow Tree Missions and I’m honored to be selected as the new Director of Services,” she said. “I am committed to providing services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Piatt County. I am committed to using my experience to benefit those in need in our county.”

Kocher brings 11 years of social services and law enforcement experience to her role with the organization. Kocher previously worked with the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office, the Sullivan Police Department, the Youth Advocate Program and Dove, Inc. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer studies with a concentration in family services.

Her role as Director of Services is to oversee all of the organization’s domestic violence initiatives, including working directly with victims’ families to provide services such as emergency shelters, legal assistance, safety planning and counseling.

In addition, she will lead a community awareness initiative on domestic violence.

Jill Maxey, executive director of Willow Tree Missions, knew it was meant to be.

“When Andrea pulled me aside after a meeting and said she was interested in the position. I got goosebumps,” she said. “We talked for quite a while and set our goals; We both wanted to do our best to serve our community.”

Maxey said she’s thrilled to have Kocher on the team.

“Having a talented person fill this position has been at the top of my prayer list over the past year,” she said. “The need for services in Piatt County is great. Once again, God far exceeded my expectations.”
