Initiated in October 2022, the city has successfully concluded the Self-Certified Private Arborist Pilot Program as of November 2023. In accordance with the City of Tampa’s goals to assist in streamlining the development process, and the goals of the Urban Forestry Management Plan adopted by City Council to foster public/private partnerships, the City of Tampa is expanding comprehensive code training of Chapter 27 Tree and Landscape code to all ISA Certified Arborists.
This training program will replace the current Self-Certified Private Arborist Pilot Program. To ensure consistency in the reports, the city will further code education. This will allow property owners to utilize any ISA Certified Arborist to provide a private industry alternative for permit applicants who need a condition/evaluation/risk assessment.
Moving forward the city will offer this training, annually, to assist all arborists. All interested arborists may reserve a seat at the City of Tampa ISA Private Arborist Training Program at: https://www.tampa.gov/form/Code-Training.
