The city’s Department of Public Services announces that city teams will remove 18 trees on Ashland Street between Summer and Davenport Streets beginning the week of May 22.

The trees to be removed are located in the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the road. Trees outside of this range are not touched.

Removal is a requirement to make room for the $9.4 million Complete Streets project, a federally funded project that will include shared footpaths and bike paths, utility relocation, more green space, new sidewalks and walkways included.

The project will also include new tree plantings upon completion.
