Imagine the most adorable, fluffy and cute stuffed animal you have ever seen. And then pretend it somehow transforms into a real, living animal through the kindest magic. THAT, my friends, is a Matschie tree kangaroo. And there are no prettier examples of this truly perfect animal — they’re the platonic ideal of a cute animal, in my humble opinion — than Paia and her mother Keweng, who are part of the tree-kangaroo conservation program at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island. Roger Williams Park Zoo offers this brief overview of the Matschie’s tree kangaroo:
Matschie’s tree kangaroos like Paia and Keweng are an endangered species and one of 14 different tree kangaroo species. Unfortunately, many people do not even know that these magical animals exist. Let’s help raise awareness of this species!
