VanBooven Tree Care (Wyandotte County)

Based in Edwardsville, Wyandotte County, VanBooven Tree Care was the most recommended and received numerous testimonials of quality service and competent care.

“We were very happy with VanBooven Tree Care,” said Post reader Kitty Degler. “They have safely felled a very large volunteer tree and treated our ash against infestation with emerald ash borers for several years. You are very competent.”

Degler also noted that VanBooven sends out a newsletter, a feature of their business that she particularly enjoys.

Post reader Kim Whitman said VanBooven also does a “fabulous” job and has great customer service.

“They are extremely polite and they take safety very seriously,” Whitman said. “They also do an excellent job of removing residue after trimming. Great service all round.”

A&E Tree (Overland Park)

A&E Tree, based in Overland Park south of I-435 and east of US 69 Highway, was also one of the most recommended services.

“We’ve used A&E Tree several times and have had good experiences each time,” said Post reader Shannon Ericson. “They are professional, punctual and clean up themselves.”

Greg Musil, another reader, said A&E Tree helped him solve problems other services just couldn’t help with.

“I’ve been using one for 8-10 years and the service, price, cleaning and attention to detail has been great!” Musil said.

Metro Tree Service (Shawnee)

Shawnee-based Metro Tree Services serves the greater Kansas City area and is run by husband and wife team Jeff and Keri Fenton.

Reader Elaine Ferguson said she’s used the Metro Tree service for years and found the Fentons to be quick to respond after the July storm.

“We had a very large branch that lay across our driveway and across our entire front yard. “Jeff and his wife stopped by our home on Friday night to assess the damage and a team came back the next day to clear the driveway,” Ferguson said.

She’s also a fan of the prices, calling the service “great.”

Post reader Mary-Michael Sterchi described both Hoover Tree and Landscape and owner Chris Hoover as “one of the most reliable, knowledgeable and affordable tree care companies in the greater area.”

Sterchi said she’s been using the service for about 25 years and “highly recommends” it for emergencies and other landscaping jobs that may need to be done.

“Hoover Tree and Landscape has been there for us through many of these bad storms,” ​​Sterchi wrote. “They were there for us in no time this week to cut, shred and haul away large debris including a huge third of a hundred year old elm tree that had fallen.”
