TUMWATER – A Snohomish-based roofing company faces hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries said in a statement.

The department announced Tuesday that it has fined Allways Roofing $442,654 for new safety violations. According to the statement, L&I issued 11 subpoenas for repeated failure to comply with fall protection requirements, inadequate eye protection and lack of worker training.

Allways Roofing has been charged with more than 100 safety violations over the past 10 years, many involving repeated and intentional failure to use fall protection, the statement said. The latest citation brings the total fine against the company to more than $3 million since 2019.

“This company knows the rules well,” Craig Blackwood, deputy director of L&I’s occupational health and safety department, wrote in the statement. “The foreman on site has been involved in at least four other subpoenas in the past. They blatantly choose to ignore the rules, putting workers at serious risk of injury or death.”
