Detroit-based middle-market private equity firm Huron Capital has launched its latest ExecFactor initiative, Rampart Exterior Services, in partnership with executive Gabe Mesanza.

Rampart Exterior Services will seek to acquire roofing and exterior restoration companies focusing on re-roofing, roofing repair, waterproofing, restoration, and maintenance services for commercial customers in diverse end markets including government, education, health care, life sciences, data centers, manufacturing, and other sectors.

“Facility owners are becoming increasingly proactive about maintaining their roof and broader building envelope, especially from water intrusion,” says Brian Rassel, a partner at Huron. “This, combined with aging infrastructure, growth in building stock, and continued weather severity, will continue to support continued investment into commercial roofing and exterior services.”

Mesanza, CEO of Rampart Exterior Services, began his career as a mechanical engineer before supporting facility, infrastructure, and residential services companies. He has held leadership roles across safety, quality, and operations and brings a perspective as a building owner and manager. In addition to his operational involvement across service industries, Mesanza  has experience as a private equity investor and M&A advisor.

“We are excited to partner with founders to focus on non-discretionary replacement and repair work and provide preventative maintenance support,” says Mesanza. “Rampart Exterior Services will create value by attracting and retaining the best talent, providing unmatched customer service, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

“Huron’s experience deploying its buy-and-build playbook to accelerate growth in founder-owned businesses through its proven ExecFactor strategy makes them an ideal partner in the commercial exteriors market.”

ExecFactor is Huron Capital’s proprietary, thematic investment strategy where it underwrites an industry and partners with an executive to deploy its buy-and-build investment model. The strategy brings together a sector focus, industry relationships, committed capital, and a repeatable buy-and-build approach to create a new platform investment.
