Hundreds of people submitted their names for a chance at a new roof this spring, and now voting is open for the Roof Rescue raffle.
Dayus Roofing announced in partnership with GAF Roofing the unique initiative in April The goal is to give back to someone who deserves it in the community by providing them with a brand new roof, including labor and materials.
Officials say the nomination process met with an overwhelming response, limited to few.
President Frank Dayus says it is time for the fellowship to get involved and have a say in who will be the recipient of this opportunity.
“It was quite difficult but we narrowed it down to three deserving candidates. We already have hundreds of votes that have come in through our website, but we’re just looking for help to get this message out there. So that everyone joins together. “We have come together in Windsor and Essex County to find the worthy member for the new roof system,” he said.
Dayus Roofing has been serving the Windsor-Essex community for over 100 years and Dayus says that giving back is what he is passionate about.
“I mean, probably everyone has seen Extreme Home Makeover, and it always felt good to see it on TV. So in a way it’s our craft and we hope we can inspire others to get involved and make Windsor – Essex is a better place to live. What we can do is give someone who needs it a new roof and that is what we do best.”
He says that while there can only be one recipient of the Roof Rescue sweepstakes, they wanted to show all the nominees their appreciation for sharing their stories.
“I don’t know exactly, I know we had to review and submit between 100 and 150 entries,” Dayus continued. “Like I said before, it was very difficult to narrow the number down to three, but we did it and now the rest is up to the community to determine the winner.”
Voting will remain open for one month, allowing participants to vote once a day per email address.
According to Dayus, the winner will be determined based on the total number of votes received by midnight on August 8th.
