CEDAR FALLS — The Board of Education on Monday will consider approving a contract for summer roofing projects.
Black Hawk Roof Company of Cedar Falls submited the lowest bids totaling $237,050 to replace portions of the roofs at Cedar Heights and Orchard Hill elementary schools. That was below the estimate of $275,000 by Cedar Falls-based Terracon Consultants Inc.
The company bid $201,050 on the 10,844-square-foot roof replacement at Cedar Heights, where the estimated cost was $240,000. It bid $36,000 on 1,060-square-foot roof replacement at Orchard Hill. The estimated cost there was $35,000.
The other company to bid only submitted a proposal for the Orchard Hill project at $36,400.
The total cost of the project was estimated at $311,100. That included an estimated $36,100 for Terracon’s design services.

Work will be paid for with proceeds from the physical plant and equipment levy.
The board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers of Cedar Falls City Hall, 220 Clay St.
