What are the key achievements of your school in the past year?

Our students. Lavanya of Class XII (Medical) stood first in the Albert Barrow Memorial All-India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition, 2023, organised by the CISCE Board and proudly donned a 22 carat gold medal with a glittering trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Arshita Virk of Class VI achieved remarkable success at the global round in the World Scholar’s Cup held in Bangkok. She competed against 3,500 children from over 45 countries and brought home three silver medals and a qualification for the ‘Tournament of Champions’ at Yale University, USA. Hitesh Khanna, a city topper in JEE Advanced with AIR 2011, has been selected for the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras.

How are the ‘lessons’ of Covid time online teaching being incorporated in the normal offline mode now?

The school has incorporated Covid time online lessons into the normal offline mode by integrating technology and digital tools into the teaching practices. This includes utilising online platforms for assignments, assessments and communication with students.

NEP has set new goals for school education. How far have you progressed in its implementation?

The students are taken for field trips to give them hands-on knowledge about subjects, they participate in national and international Olympiads, the teachers use technology to enhance their teaching and the school has hired professional coaches for archery, shooting, basketball, volleyball, football, cricket, badminton, table-tennis, kho-kho, gymnastics, chess, dance, singing, drama, etc. Our students have represented Punjab in almost all of them.

Vocational education classes or skill-building opportunities being given to students

The school has coding classes to let our kids cope with the world moving towards Artificial Intelligence, our hi-tech computer labs and well-equipped science labs are our initiatives implemented to improve student outcome and enhance vocational skills. The school provides basic plumbing, masonry and electrical training to make children self-dependent. In addition to this, career counselling services are provided to assist students in exploring various vocational avenues and making well-informed decisions about their future careers.

Hand-holding initiatives for underachievers

The school offers remedial classes specifically designed for underachieving students to focus on providing extra practice and addressing any gaps in knowledge. We closely monitor the progress of underachieving students with regular assessments, progress reports and feedback mechanisms to identify areas of improvement and track their academic growth. We encourage active involvement of parents in supporting underachieving students with regular parent-teacher meetings and workshops to provide guidance on how parents can support their child’s academic development at home.
