A traditional van has caused a stir in Auckland because it looks a lot like a police vehicle.
Local plumbing company Polite Plumbers designed their cars to look exactly like police cars.
While police vans have yellow and blue plaids on the side, the sanitary vans have yellow plaids and little blue people on the toilets.
It’s a subtle difference that makes the Aucklanders tremble in their boots.
“We get a lot of laughs, a lot of laughs, a lot of finger pointing,” Steve Terblanch, owner of Polite Plumbers, told The Project.
“Kids love it, they point to the little guys on the toilet pooping.”
“I guess when people are on the wrong side of the law you feel like you’re being teased, but if you don’t have anything to worry about then you should be fine,” he said.
“We’re all about naughty, our vans are naughty, the backs of our shirts are naughty, we’re just a naughty bunch.”
The police again contacted the project, and according to them, there was no bad blood.
“This is the first time we’ve heard of this company and while it may seem a little cheeky, it’s important to dispel the notion that they are in any way associated with the police,” New Zealand Police said in one Statement to The Project.
