A Tennessee community rallied around an elderly man, who used to be one of the original Mouseketeers after they learned he had been living without water for several months.

Ric Morgan became one of the original Walt Disney Mickey Mouse Club Mousketeers in 1955, working alongside actors like Annette Funicello. Later in his career, he became a theatrical and entertainment caterer, traveling for 10 years with stars like Reba McEntire and Garth Brooks.

“Well you know, they say most people have 15 minutes of fame. I had 65 years,” Morgan told WREG-TV.

After spending a career among the stars, Morgan retired to a small family home in Memphis. Here, he used his past in catering to make meals for the homeless at his church.

But despite his connections to Hollywood, Morgan lives on a small social security check like many others. “I haven’t had any water since last year because my pipes froze under the house and burst my hot water heater and it fell through the floor,” he told the station.

So his friend from church, Alice Harrington, sent out the call to help Morgan, who had just returned home from the hospital.

Community members and WREG-TV gave Morgan $1,000, a boost he said would help him get his plumbing fixed.
