Georgia Plumbing Contractor Fined After Fatal Trench Collapse

A Macon, Ga., plumbing contractor faces over $300,000 in penalties after an employee was fatally injured and another worker was hospitalized while on the job, according to the Labor Department on Thursday.

As two employees of Pyles Plumbing and Utility Contractors Inc. were installing sewer-line piping in a trench, the trench collapsed. This resulted in the death of one worker, and left the other with several fractures, the agency said.
