- On Monday, The Humane Society of Forsyth County conducted a first rescue run with their new van. The shelter staff and volunteers rescued 20 dogs and puppies from the Walker County Animal Shelter and Chattooga County Animal Control. - A local man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman in the Sawnee View Memorial Gardens cemetery. Matthew Scott Whelchel, 39, a Forsyth County resident, has been charged with rape and aggravated sexual assault in the February 6 incident. Forsyth County Sheriff’s Officers are investigating. - Forsyth County officials have announced new directors for three key departments. Tom Cisco is taking over as the new director of the Emergency Management Agency, and Jerry Ramos has been named director of the code compliance department. The new director of the county’s board of assessors and chief assessor will be Joel Benton, a former assessor from Fayette County. (News)
- Forsyth County Schools are currently recruiting school nurses for the 2023-2024 school year.
